Dedication of Selma-to-Montgomery Commemorative Art Installations

  • Location: Tour begins at 121 Montgomery St. at 2 p.m., then moves to sculpture at Five Points about 2:30 p.m. and ends at the sculpture at the City of St. Jude about 3 p.m.

Due to the most recent weather forecast for Thursday, the dedication/media briefing for the civil rights mural and sculptures has been rescheduled for Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m.

The media briefing and dedication will consist of a tour beginning at the civil rights mural at 121 Montgomery St., then stopping at the sculpture at the Five Points intersection of Mobile, Clayton, Goldthwaite and Montgomery Streets and ending at the sculpture at the plaza on the City of St. Jude campus. At each stop, the artists will discuss the significance of their work, along with the production process. Mayor Strange will be available to answer any media inquiries at the end of the event.

Estimated timeframe:

2:00 p.m. - Mural Dedication ? 121 Montgomery St., Corner of Lee & Montgomery Streets;

2:30 p.m. - Sculpture Dedication ? Corner of Montgomery & Mobile Streets (Five Points/Cottage Hill);

3:00 p.m. - Sculpture Dedication and Q&A ? City of St. Jude Campus (West Fairview Ave).
