MONTGOMERY -- As the holiday season draws to an end, the city of Montgomery, Montgomery Clean City Commission and the Alabama Department of Conservation want to remind residents of the free Christmas tree recycling program on Saturday, December 27, 2014, and Saturday, January 3, 2015.

Citizens are encouraged to take discarded Christmas trees to any one of the city's regular Saturday trash pickup points between 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Saturday trash pick-up locations include Bellingrath Jr. High, Cramton Bowl, Crump Elementary, Dannelly Elementary, Goodwyn Jr. High, Halcyon Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Hayneville Road Elementary, Morningview Elementary, Sheridan Heights Community Center, Southlawn Middle School, Vaughn Road Elementary and Wares Ferry Elementary. For addresses of these locations, please visit www.montgomeryal.gov and click on the Sanitation Department link.

The Alabama Department of Conservation implemented a new fish habitat program on local reservoirs, like Lake Martin and Lake Jordan. Recycled trees from Montgomery will be placed in these reservoirs to enhance the fish habitat.

Trees put out by the road are not recycled. For more information, please call Montgomery Clean City Commission at 625-2175.
